/shadows admin reload | Reload AscensionShadows config and archetypes |
/shadows admin spawnwild <archetype> [tier] [count] | Spawn wild mobs at your location (hostile AI) |
/shadows admin display … | Spawn showcase mobs — persistent demos (see below) |
/shadows admin modeldebug | ModelEngine diagnostics (console log) |
/shadows refreshmodels | Re-send resource pack + refresh models (ascension.shadow.use, not admin) |
On /asc admin (Core — preferred for granting shadows)
| Command | Description |

/asc admin shadow list <player> | List stored shadows |
/asc admin shadow types | Valid archetype IDs |
/asc admin shadow give <player> <archetype> <rank> [name] | Grant a shadow |
/asc admin wild list | Wild mob archetype IDs |
/asc admin wild spawn <archetype> [tier] [count] | Spawn wild mob at you (hostile AI) |
/asc admin display … | Same as /shadows admin display (showcase mobs) |
Target player must be online for shadow list / shadow give.
Showcase mobs (display)
Persistent wild or shadow models for spawn showcases. Uses ModelEngine when available. Not registered as wild mobs or summoned shadows.
Also documented in the in-game Staff Handbook (/asc admin guide) — built-in books include a clickable Contents page after the cover.
| Command | Description |
|---|---|
/shadows admin display wild <archetype> [tier] [flags] | Wild-form model |
/shadows admin display shadow <archetype> [tier] [name] [flags] | Shadow-form model |
/shadows admin display remove [radius] | Remove nearest showcase (default 8 blocks) |
/shadows admin display clear [radius] | Remove all showcases in radius (default 32) |
/shadows admin display grid [wild|shadow|both|all] [spacing] | Grid of every archetype (default spacing 4). Permission: ascension.shadow.display.grid (op) |
/shadows admin display list | List every showcase mob with its short #id, kind, state, and location |
/shadows admin display select <#id> | Select a mob — roam/patrol/anim commands then target it (not the nearest) |
/shadows admin display deselect | Clear the selection (back to nearest-mob targeting) |
/shadows admin display | Open the roster GUI (no inspector needed) |
/shadows admin display menu / gui / roster | Same roster GUI |
/shadows admin display inspect [#id] | Open the management GUI for one mob (by id, or the selected/nearest) |
/shadows admin display tool | Get the Inspector item — right-click any showcase mob to manage it |
/shadows admin display help | Full flag and patrol reference |
Select & manage in a GUI
Every showcase mob gets a stable short #id (shown by display list, survives restart). Once you select a mob, all roam / patrol / anim commands act on that mob instead of the nearest one — so you can manage a specific mob from anywhere.
Open the GUI without the Inspector tool:
| Command | Opens |
|---|---|
/shadows admin display | Roster of every showcase mob |
/shadows admin display menu | Same roster (gui / roster aliases) |
/shadows admin display inspect [#id] | Per-mob manager (nearest / selected / by id) |
/asc admin display | Same as above (Core admin alias) |
Optional: display tool gives the Inspector blaze rod — right-click a showcase mob in the world.
The management GUI covers, without touching commands:
| Control | Effect |
|---|---|
| Movement mode | Static, Walk (ground), or Walk + Fly (takes to the sky) |
| Roam zone size / speed | Grow or shrink the box and change wander speed — no upper size limit |
| Idle animation | Cycle the loop played while standing still (stops the previous clip first) |
| Rename | Type a new name in chat (supports & colour codes); the floating label updates |
| Replace model | Type shadow:<id> or wild:<id> — swaps the ModelEngine model in place, keeping nameplate, roam, interactions, and other settings |
| Label mode | Cycle FULL / NAME ONLY / HIDDEN / CUSTOM / NAME + CUSTOM |
| Custom label text | Free-text line(s) for CUSTOM / NAME_CUSTOM (\n for a second line) |
| Label ↑ / ↓ | Nudge the floating title up or down |
| Guard: attack mobs | Toggle guard mode (see Free roam) |
| Interactions | Sub-panel: talk on/off, run commands as console/player, click GUI, cooldown, proximity |
| Move to me / Face me / Teleport | Reposition a static mob (updates its anchor) or warp to it |
| Delete | Remove the mob |
Nameplate flags
| Flag | Effect |
|---|---|
--no-name | Hide mob name |
--no-rank | Hide rank tag |
--no-title | Hide archetype title |
--no-health | Hide health bar |
--no-level | Hide bond level (shadow only) |
--minimal | Name only |
--full | Reset all lines on (FULL mode) |
--hide-label | No floating label |
--label-name | Name only (same as minimal mode) |
--label-custom | Show only custom text |
--label-name-custom | Name on top, custom text under it |
--label-text=Hello_world | Set custom text (_ → space) |
--label-y=1.5 | Nudge label up/down in blocks (negative = lower) |
Interactions (click & proximity)
| Flag | Effect |
|---|---|
--interact <preset> | Merge a preset from config.yml → display.interact-presets |
--click-msg <text> | Message when a player clicks the mob |
--click-cmd <command> | Command when clicked — runs as the player by default |
--click-gui <id> | Open GUI: shadows, asc, gates, skills, guild, shop, achievements |
--proximity <blocks> | Trigger once when a player enters range |
--prox-msg / --prox-cmd / --prox-gui | Proximity actions |

console:give %player% diamond | Per-command console prefix |
player:shadows | Force a single command as the player |
Example:
/shadows admin display shadow ant_king S Beru --interact welcome_beru --click-cmd shadowsAnimations & patrol routes
Showcase mobs can loop ModelEngine animations and follow custom patrol paths (e.g. a dragon flying between points).
| Flag / command | Effect |
|---|---|
--anim <state> | Loop animation at spawn (fly, idle, attack, …) |
/shadows admin display anim <state|clear> [radius] | Set loop animation on nearest showcase |
/shadows admin display patrol add [radius] | Add waypoint at your location |
/shadows admin display patrol travel <#> <seconds> [anim] | Time + animation to reach that point |
/shadows admin display patrol dwell <#> <seconds> [anim] | Pause at a point (e.g. stand on ground) |
/shadows admin display patrol list | Show route |
/shadows admin display patrol start / stop | Run or pause patrol |
/shadows admin display patrol loop on|off | Loop A→B→C or stop at end |
/shadows admin display patrol move <#> | Move waypoint to your position |
/shadows admin display patrol clear | Remove all waypoints |
Example flying dragon route:
/shadows admin display wild dragon_monarch S --anim fly
# stand at each aerial point:
/shadows admin display patrol add
/shadows admin display patrol travel 1 6 fly
/shadows admin display patrol travel 2 5 fly
/shadows admin display patrol dwell 3 4 idle
/shadows admin display patrol startPatrol state persists on the entity (survives restart).
Free roam (auto-wander a zone)
Instead of hand-placing patrol waypoints, define a box and let the showcase mob wander it on its own. It behaves like a living creature: short local walks → occasional pause → (if it can fly) take off with the fly clip, hop a few times, hover, then land while still flying → walk again. Ground targets only use real walkable floors inside the zone (no mid-air walking). It always plays one locomotion clip for what it's doing, and it stays strictly inside its box.
| Command | Effect |
|---|---|
/shadows admin display roam here <radius> [height] | Box centred on the mob (± radius blocks, height up) and starts roaming |
/shadows admin display roam corner1 / corner2 | Set a precise box: stand at each opposite corner |
/shadows admin display roam fly on|off | Allow take-off into the air (auto-on for flying archetypes) |
/shadows admin display roam attack on|off | Guard mode — attack hostile mobs that enter the zone (see below) |
/shadows admin display roam speed <blocks/sec> | Travel speed (default 3) |
/shadows admin display roam walkanim|flyanim|idleanim <anim> | Override the ground / air / pause animation |
/shadows admin display roam start / stop / clear / info | Control the roam zone |
There is no upper limit on zone size — make it as large as you want (roam here <size>, or the GUI Zone + button).
Example free-roaming dragon:
/shadows admin display shadow dragon_monarch S Igris
# stand in the middle of the area you want it to patrol:
/shadows admin display roam here 20 12
# (optional) tune it:
/shadows admin display roam speed 4
/shadows admin display roam fly onRoam state (zone, fly, speed, guard) persists across restarts.
Guard mode (attack hostile mobs)
Turn a roaming mob into a guard that attacks hostile mobs (zombies, skeletons, dungeon monsters — anything hostile) that wander into its zone. Enable it from the GUI (Guard: attack mobs) or with roam attack on — enabling it automatically gives the mob a roam zone and starts it.
The guard targets the nearest hostile mob inside its zone, moves to it, plays its attack animation, and deals its attack-damage attribute (falls back to 6). The chase is clamped to the zone, so the guard never abandons its square. The guard itself is invulnerable and hostiles can't target it back.
/shadows admin display shadow void_commander S Sentinel
/shadows admin display roam here 24 6
/shadows admin display roam attack onSummoned shadow animations & abilities
Flying archetypes (e.g. Dragon Monarch, Leathern Drake) use ModelEngine locomotion:
| State | Animation |
|---|---|
| Airborne | fly |
| On ground + moving | walk |
| On ground + still | idle |
| Melee attack | attack |
| Fire breath | breathfire + flame / dragon_breath particles |
Configure per archetype in shadow-archetypes.yml → abilities:
| Key | Effect |
|---|---|
rideable | Players can mount (right-click; WASD to ride, right-click to dismount) |
mount-flight | Flying mount: ground-walk + F/Space take-off, Space up, look-down dive, F land |
fire-breath | Left-click while mounted (fires at empty air too); AI uses breath at range in combat |
mount-seat-y-offset / mount-seat-z-offset | Rider position |
Dragon Monarch example includes mount-flight: true and fire-breath: true.
